As you may know, at Ladywell Medical Centre West, our patient numbers have been rising very quickly over the past couple of years due to large scale house building in the area and other external factor.
In order to continue providing the quality of service required we have taken the difficult decision to restrict our new patient registrations to those patients moving into our practice area.
This means we will not accept new registrations from patients who currently live in our practice area but who are already registered at another practice.
We will continue to register new babies of existing patients, temporary residents who are living within our practice area and immediate family members who become resident at a registered patient’s address.
We constantly monitor our patient numbers and will continue to do so. We hope you understand our decision and the reasons behind it, but should you wish to discuss this further please contact the Practice Manager.
It is our usual practice to accept new patients every second week, on a rota basis with Ladywell Medical Centre East, with whom we share our building and some services. Should you attend when it is not our week to take new patients you may be asked to register with Ladywell Medical Centre East. If you already have family members registered at Ladywell Medical Centre West please explain this when you come to reception.
Patients new to the area wishing to register should print and complete the registration form and patient questionnaire.You can also complete our online “Pre-Registration” form as shown below.
Acceptance on to the list is as at the discretion of the Doctor. We may also ask you for proof of identity. (Please refer to our registration policy below and why we ask for this). Your medical records may take several weeks to arrive at the Practice.
Medical treatment is available from the date of registration. Please contact reception for further information.

From Barnton intersection in clockwise direction: Queensferry Road, Clermiston Road North, Cairnmuir Road, Kaimes Road, Corstorphine Road, Saughtonhall Drive, Balgreen Road, Calder Road to include a small part of Gorgie Road (upto the roundabout on Calder Road by Saughton Park), Broomhouse Road, Bankhead Drive, South Gyle Access, South Gyle Broadway to Gogar Roundabout, Glasgow Road to Maybury Road intersection, Maybury Road intersection to Barnton intersection (where Queensferry Road meets Maybury Road).
There are a number of reasons why you may not be able to register with your chosen GP. For example, you may live too far away. If this is the case simply choose another GP in your local area.
